Crypto.com, a Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange, has secured a full license under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) granted the license to Crypto.com's Malta-based subsidiary, making it one of the first major crypto exchanges to achieve regulatory approval under the EU's licensing framework.

The MiCA license allows Crypto.com to passport its services across the European Economic Area (EEA), which includes 27 member states. This regulatory approval enables the exchange to operate compliantly within the EEA, providing its users with access to a wider range of services and enhancing the platform's credibility in the region.

Eric Anziani, President and COO of Crypto.com, expressed the company's commitment to securing a MiCA license as part of its global expansion strategy. Anziani highlighted the EU's forward-thinking approach to cryptocurrency regulation, stating that the platform aims to promote regulated cryptocurrency adoption throughout Europe.

In addition to securing the MiCA license, Crypto.com announced the launch of its new Custody Services for institutional clients in the U.S., Canada, and globally. The company's Crypto.com Custody Trust Company, chartered by the New Hampshire Banking Department, is now available to U.S. and Canadian customers. Crypto.com Custody Singapore, overseen by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, also provides custody services to clients worldwide.

The MiCA license further strengthens Crypto.com's portfolio of regulatory approvals. Since its launch in 2016, the Singapore-based exchange, which also has a headquarters in Australia, has secured licenses from global regulators, including the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority, Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, and multiple U.S. regulators.
