As the digital landscape evolves, so too do the threats that lurk within it. In recent years, the cybersecurity industry has witnessed a surge in activity from foreign hackers, with CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz sounding the alarm on the escalating threat these actors pose. In an interview with TechTargetTTGT--, Kurtz shared his insights on the growing menace and the need for vigilance in the face of this mounting challenge.

The CrowdStrike CEO's perspective aligns with the findings of the company's 2025 Global Threat Report, which highlights the significant increase in China-nexus adversary activity. In 2024, CrowdStrike observed a 150% increase in China-nexus activity across all sectors, with targeted sectors such as financial services, media, and manufacturing experiencing increases of 200% to 300%. Even among the top three sectors targeted by China-nexus adversaries -- government, technology, and telecommunications -- activity increased by 50% in 2024 compared to 2023.
