Core Natural Resources advances its executive succession plan
Core Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: CNR) has executed a leadership transition as part of its executive succession plan, with Brock assuming the role of chief executive officer, effective immediately. Brock, who previously served as executive chair of the board, succeeds Paul A. Lang, who is departing as CEO and board member. Lang has agreed to provide transition consulting services through the end of the year to ensure a smooth handover.
Brock brings extensive experience in the coal industry, having served as chairman and CEO of CONSOL Energy prior to the 2025 merger with Arch Resources that formed Core Natural Resources. His career spans over 40 years in coal operations, including roles such as chief operating officer, mine foreman, and longwall coordinator. Brock also holds leadership positions in industry organizations, including the National Mining Association and the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance.
The board expressed gratitude for Lang’s contributions during the merger and integration process, noting that he has laid a strong foundation for the company’s future. Brock emphasized his commitment to operational excellence and delivering value to shareholders, citing Core’s strategic assets, including its diversified coal portfolio and extensive logistical network.
This leadership change reflects Core’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its governance and management structure as it continues to serve global markets for metallurgical and thermal coal.
