Copper prices hit a three-week low of $14,005.50 a ton on the London Metal Exchange due to rising inventories and a stronger dollar. The metal has fallen 6.2% from its record high reached last Thursday amid uncertainty over US tariffs. Inventories rose by 9,600 tons, easing supply concerns and widening the cash LME copper861122-- contract's discount to the three-month forward contract. The Federal Reserve's upcoming policy meeting is also weighing on copper prices, as higher interest rates can slow economic activity and reduce demand for industrial metals.
