Crypto custody firm Copper has appointed Tammy Weinrib as its new chief compliance officer and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) officer for the Americas, the company announced in a press release. Weinrib will lead the firm's licensing efforts in the U.S. market and will be part of Copper's executive team, based in New York.

Her appointment comes as Copper continues to expand its presence in the U.S., following the appointment of Amar Kuchinad as global CEO in October last year. Weinrib brings extensive experience in the crypto industry, having previously served as chief compliance officer and BSA officer at Binance.US. Prior to that, she worked at crypto exchange Gemini.

Weinrib's career spans both traditional finance and crypto. She has held positions at Wall Street bank CitiC--, The Royal Bank of Scotland, and Standard Chartered. Her appointment is seen as a significant step forward for Copper as it accelerates its growth strategy and expands its offering to traditional finance.

In December, Copper announced that it had withdrawn its application to become registered with the U.K.'s financial services regulator. The decision was part of the company's strategic shift to focus on markets such as the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.
