The Conagra Brands Foundation has announced the allocation of $330,000 in one-year funding to 21 nonprofits across seven states as part of its "Nourish Our Community" grants. This initiative is part of the company's broader effort to combat food insecurity and support community development. The grants reflect Conagra's commitment to driving positive social impact in the communities where its employees live and work.

The selection process involved a cross-functional employee committee that reviewed and discussed employee-nominated applications. The committee carefully evaluated each application, focusing on organizations that tackle food insecurity, cooking skills, nutrition education, healthy lifestyles, and urban agriculture.

The grants will support a variety of programs aimed at addressing food insecurity. For instance, the Aging with Spirit Foundation in Nebraska will use the funding to deliver approximately 1,380 meals to food insecure older adults through its Meals on Wheels program. Similarly, the All People's Pantry in Nebraska will provide culturally inclusive food for approximately 250 families each season, sourced primarily from small, immigrant- or refugee-owned grocery stores.

In addition to direct food assistance, the grants also support initiatives that promote long-term food justice and sustainability. For example, Circle Urban Ministries in Illinois will use the funding to support its Seed 2 Success program, which teaches youth hydroponic farming, culinary skills, and environmental stewardship. This program not only addresses immediate hunger needs but also promotes long-term food justice and self-sufficiency.

The Conagra Brands Foundation's partnership with Feeding America, a leading hunger-relief organization, underscores its commitment to addressing hunger on a national scale. Through its philanthropic efforts, Conagra supports research that deepens the understanding of hunger and its impact on vulnerable populations. The Foundation also invests in capacity-building initiatives that strengthen frontline hunger-relief agencies, enabling them to provide greater access to nutritious and culturally relevant foods.

In addition to the grants, Conagra donates substantial amounts of food through Feeding America's network of 200 food banks nationwide. This comprehensive approach ensures that communities receive both immediate and long-term support in their fight against food insecurity.
