Coinbase Bolsters Global Advisory Council with Trump Campaign Co-manager and Fed Veteran
Coinbase, the leading cryptocurrency exchange, has bolstered its Global Advisory Council with the addition of four prominent figures from the worlds of finance and politics. The new members include Chris LaCivita, co-manager of President Trump's 2024 campaign, former Federal Reserve Bank of New York President Bill Dudley, former US Senator Kyrsten Sinema, and international finance expert Luis Alberto Moreno.
Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad stated that the new members represent "some of the brightest minds across finance, tech, and politics," and will help guide the company as it navigates the evolving landscape of cryptocurrency. The exchange has faced scrutiny from the SEC under the Biden administration, and it appears that Coinbase is taking on power players to advance its vision in a potentially more crypto-friendly regulatory environment under Trump's SEC.
William Dudley, the former Fed policymaker, expressed his belief that Coinbase can ensure the integration of cryptocurrencies into the financial system in a safe and beneficial way for Americans. While Bitcoin was initially rooted in skepticism of the existing financial system, Coinbase has embraced the industry's ascent into the mainstream, working with companies that view blockchain as a natural evolution of financial markets.
Coinbase first partnered with BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, in 2022. Following a recent trip to Davos, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that the exchange will work with corporate leaders, from banks to asset managers, as investments accelerate into crypto. Armstrong emphasized the need for an institutional-grade partner like Coinbase to bring these benefits to everyone and update the global financial system.
