Chubu Electric Announces Resignation of Top Officials Over Nuclear Plant Data Falsification Scandal

Chubu Electric Power Co., a Japanese utility, announced the resignation of Chairman Satoru Katsuno and President Kingo Hayashi over a data falsification scandal at its Hamaoka nuclear power plant. The scandal involved manipulated seismic ground motion data, which was caused by pressure from the company's executive team to speed up the screening process for nuclear operations. Minoru Yasui will succeed Hayashi as president.
