China Transforms Desert Lands into Solar Powerhouses with 770,000 sqm Reflective Area

China is transforming barren lands into solar thermal powerhouses, with over 25,000 heliostats arranged in concentric circles spanning 770,000 square meters in Gansu Province. The Jinta multi-energy complementary 100,000-kilowatt molten salt tower solar thermal power station is the largest tower-type solar thermal plant in China, generating 1.45 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually. Solar thermal power offers peak shaving and energy storage capabilities, and Gansu has an installed capacity of 620,000 kilowatts.
