China foreign ministry: We welcome all foreign businesses, including U.S. firms, to operate in China
China's foreign ministry has extended a warm welcome to all foreign businesses, including U.S. firms, to operate within the country. This invitation comes as part of a broader effort to deepen economic ties and foster mutually beneficial cooperation. The message from the Chinese government underscores its commitment to creating a secure and promising destination for foreign investors. In recent months, China has been actively promoting its investment opportunities. On May 22, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade hosted the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2025 in Beijing. The event brought together over 800 participants, including representatives from foreign governments, international organizations, foreign commerce chambers, and Chinese and foreign enterprises. This summit highlighted the opportunities available for foreign investors in China, emphasizing the country's potential as a significant market.
US firms have expressed their confidence in the Chinese market. Michael Hart, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China), noted that American companies view China as a positive market and look forward to continuing trade. Hart emphasized that the Chinese market continues to grow and that China's innovation capabilities are significant. He also pointed out that AI is an area where the two countries can cooperate, as it has the potential to reshape almost all industries [1].
French firms, too, have shown long-term commitment to the Chinese market. Rémi Paul, president of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (CCI France Chine), highlighted that French companies prioritize long-term development in China. Many French companies have operated in China for decades, achieving commercial success and participating in the country's economic and social development [2].
German firms also see China as a critical market. Martin Hofmann, chairperson of the German Chamber of Commerce in North China, noted that China's vast market size and strong innovation capabilities make it a key market for many German firms. Despite recent trade tensions, over half of German companies plan to further invest in China, particularly in R&D and innovation [3].
The Chinese government's invitation to foreign businesses comes amidst a complex global economic environment. China has been promoting high-level opening-up and creating a better business environment for foreign-invested enterprises. The message from the foreign ministry is clear: China welcomes all foreign businesses to operate within its borders and contribute to its economic development.
