The Center for Community Investment (CCI), a renowned organization dedicated to helping communities create equitable and effective investment systems, announced a significant leadership transition on January 21, 2025 [1]. Founding Executive Director Robin Hacke will step down from her role and transition to a Senior Fellow position, with Omar Carrillo Tinajero, the current Director of Programs, taking over as the new Executive Director.

CCI, which was founded with the mission of assisting communities across the country in achieving their visions for all residents to flourish, has been at the forefront of this effort for several years. As the organization deepens its emphasis on network and influence activities, connecting and supporting people engaged in systems change and equity work, Carrillo Tinajero's experience and expertise make him the ideal candidate to lead CCI into its next stage.

Hacke, who has been instrumental in building a cadre of innovative practitioners and generating a powerful movement of people and places ready to do things differently, expressed her confidence in Carrillo Tinajero's abilities. "After eight years of building this movement, we are at a pivot point in the life of CCI," Hacke said. "Omar is brilliant, with exceptional judgment, a successful track record of leading people and programs to impressive results, and the character and commitment to CCI to take the organization forward. I am excited to support him as he takes on this important role and to continue to work to build the capacity of community investment leaders as a CCI Senior Fellow."

Carrillo Tinajero, who has been with CCI since 2017, has made significant contributions to the organization. He led the Connect Capital initiative and, as Director of Programs, has been instrumental in developing and leading innovative community investment initiatives that have advanced housing, climate resilience, and equitable economic development efforts across the country. Prior to joining CCI, Carrillo Tinajero worked in housing, health, and community development policy in Oregon. He holds a Master in Urban Planning from Harvard and a Bachelor's degree from Princeton University.

"I came to CCI because I was excited by the challenge of creating equitable investment systems that center the people and communities most impacted by structural racism," Carrillo Tinajero said. "Robin's leadership, vision, and dedication have generated a powerful movement of people and places who are ready and equipped to do things differently. Now we have the opportunity to significantly grow that movement. I look forward to continuing to partner with Robin as we take CCI's work into the future."
