Casas Bahia: Co is current with all payments to its sellers

Casas Bahia has stated that it is current with all payments to its sellers, following a temporary operational inconsistency in its Pix settlement process that has since been resolved. The company attributed the prior delays—reported to affect transfers for marketplace sellers by over 30 days—to a system update required to address the issue. While credit card payment flows remained unaffected, the disruption in Pix transactions raised concerns about mixed fund allocations and manual adjustments in recent months.

Despite these challenges, the retailer emphasized that operations have returned to normal, with sellers receiving payments three times monthly as outlined on its website. However, sources indicated that delays in Pix-related settlements persisted for more than six months, compounding broader logistical bottlenecks. These included 60-day shipment delays for marketplace goods and 400 PlayStation 5 units stuck in logistics, redirected through the postal service due to infrastructure constraints.

The company's financial strategy has prioritized debt restructuring, with nearly R$9 billion of its R$10.8 billion operating cash flow in 2025 allocated to debt repayment. While this has limited investments in logistics—despite a doubling of spending to R$18 million year-to-date—Casas Bahia cited recent improvements in cash generation and a completed capital structure plan to extend debt maturities. The retailer also reported postponing payments to transport providers and Google by 15 days to optimize its financial cycle.

Casas Bahia's 2025 financial statements, scheduled for release on March 11, will provide further clarity on its operational and financial performance amid ongoing restructuring efforts.
