The vigil saw about 50 people gather outside the RCMP detachment in Stellarton to place stuffed animals, candles, and angels on a growing memorial for the children. MacPhee, who is not connected to the children, emphasized that the gathering was a safe space for support and not a place for accusations or judgments.

Lilly, 6, and Jack, 4, were reported missing after a 911 call from their mother and stepfather reported they had wandered away from their home in Lansdowne Station, a sparsely populated and heavily wooded area about 140 kilometers northeast of Halifax. Despite extensive searches, there is still no indication of what happened to the children. Search and rescue efforts have included 5.5 square kilometers of dense woods, as well as ground and underwater searches around the children's home and a pipeline trail where a boot print was found.

The RCMP's major crime unit is involved in the case, which is considered suspicious until evidence is uncovered to believe otherwise. The community is deeply affected by the disappearance, with residents feeling sadness and frustration. The vigil served as a way for the community to express their support and hope for the children's safe return.
