ETH--

Bybit, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has fallen victim to a massive hack, resulting in the loss of over $1.4 billion worth of Ethereum (ETH). The incident, which occurred on March 20, 2023, is one of the largest cryptocurrency hacks in history.

The hack was first reported by on-chain sleuth ZachXBT, who noticed suspicious ETH outflows from Bybit's cold wallets. Bybit's CEO, Ben Zhou, later confirmed that hackers had exploited a spoofed user interface (UI) to alter the smart contract logic of a cold wallet, enabling them to transfer all the ETH to an unknown address.

As of now, Bybit remains solvent and is actively seeking help to track down the stolen funds. The exchange has assured users that their assets are safe and that they are working diligently to resolve the issue. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of security measures in the cryptocurrency industry and the need for continuous vigilance against potential threats.
