Butterfly Network Launches AI-Powered Gestational Age Tool in Sub-Saharan Africa to Improve Maternal Health

Butterfly Network has launched an AI-powered Gestational Age tool in Malawi and Uganda, improving maternal and fetal health through handheld ultrasound technology. The tool is a first-of-its-kind innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa, providing a rapid estimate of gestational age through a blind-sweep scan, accessible to midwives and healthcare workers with minimal training. The tool has been supported by the Gates Foundation and was developed by the University of North Carolina.
