The men are accused of staging three separate incidents:
1. On October 16, 2024, they allegedly caused a crash on the Belt Parkway, targeting Asphia Natasha's vehicle. The collision was caught on Natasha's dashcam, which showed Murillo driving a Honda Civic in front of her and then backing into her car.
2. On October 3, 2024, they staged a crash on the Nassau Expressway, where Murillo intentionally cut in front of a tractor trailer, causing a collision.
3. On August 24, 2024, they staged another crash on the Belt Parkway near the Erskine Street exit, where a Honda Civic merged into a lane directly in front of another driver.
The investigation was conducted by the NYPD's Fraudulent Collision Investigation Squad and the New York Department of Financial Services. If convicted of the top count, Huiracocha and Murillo each face five to 15 years in prison.
The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) urges anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of insurance fraud to call the Insurance Fraud Hotline at 888-372-8369 or visit dfs.ny.gov/consumers to file an online report.
