BRICS diplomats have agreed on a joint declaration for their leaders' summit in Rio de Janeiro. The declaration emphasizes the group's commitment to consensus despite its rapid expansion. The BRICS now include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Negotiators faced difficulties in finding common language on Gaza, Israel-Iran conflict, and Africa's representative in UN Security Council reform. The group agreed to support Brazil and India for African representation and strengthened their tone on Middle East conflicts. They will also continue to criticize US protectionist policies.
