ARK Invest's Cathie Wood has expressed her belief that the likelihood of Bitcoin (BTC) reaching a price of $1.5 million has increased, primarily due to the growing adoption of the cryptocurrency by financial institutions. In a recent update to investors, Wood stated that the potential for Bitcoin to increase by 1,455% from its current value is becoming more likely as more institutional investors consider adding it to their asset allocation.

Wood attributed this shift to the unique return and risk profiles of Bitcoin, which differ significantly from other assets in institutional portfolios. She also highlighted the rapid growth of stablecoins, with the total value of transactions made using digital assets pegged to fiat currency surpassing $15 trillion in 2021. By the end of the year, the run rate for stablecoin transactions had nearly doubled to $30 trillion.

Wood emphasized that this transaction value represents large-scale transactions within the digital asset ecosystem, as decentralized finance (DeFi) and the internet financial system continue to grow. At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading at $96,422, with no significant daily change.
