Bengaluru Namma Metro Yellow Line: Stations, Timings, Fares, and Expansion Plans

The Yellow Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, a 19.15-km stretch connecting RV Road to Bommasandra, has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The corridor has 16 elevated stations and is expected to serve up to eight lakh commuters daily. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Yellow Line of Bengaluru's Namma Metro, marking a significant milestone in the city's mass transit system. The 19.15-km stretch connects RV Road to Bommasandra and is expected to serve up to eight lakh commuters daily. The corridor features 16 elevated stations, linking major areas such as Silk Board Junction, BTM Layout, Electronic City, and Bommasandra Industrial Area, thereby reducing traffic congestion and cutting travel time significantly.

The Yellow Line, developed at a cost of around Rs 7,160 crore, is part of the Phase-2 expansion of the metro network. It includes elevated stretches, modern station designs, and integrated facilities for last-mile connectivity. The new line is expected to enhance connectivity to key residential, industrial, and tech areas, making Bengaluru's metro the second-longest operational network in India after Delhi Metro [2].

Commercial operations will commence on Monday, August 11, with fares ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 90. The first ride will be taken by Prime Minister Modi, who will travel from Ragigudda station to Infosys Foundation–Konappana Agrahara station. He will be joined by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, and other dignitaries. Initially, three trainsets will operate on the line, with a frequency of one train every 25 minutes, with plans to scale up as ridership grows [2].

The inauguration of the Yellow Line is part of a broader development agenda, with the Prime Minister also laying the foundation stone for Phase-3, a 44 km expansion with 31 elevated stations, costing over Rs 15,610 crore. This phase is designed to cater to the city's growing population and traffic demands [2].
