China's representative to the United Nations: Beijing urges Israel to immediately cease all dangerous military actions.

In a statement released on June 13, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian expressed grave concern over the recent Israeli airstrikes on targets within Iran. Lin emphasized that Beijing is "highly concerned" about the situation and "deeply worried about the potential serious consequences" of the strikes [1]. The spokesperson reiterated China's opposition to any violation of Iran's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

The airstrikes, which targeted nuclear and military facilities, represent a significant escalation in hostilities between Israel and Iran. This escalation comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with both countries on the brink of all-out war. According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Israel has 169,500 active personnel and an estimated 90 nuclear warheads, while Iran has 610,000 active personnel and a larger reserve army [2].

China, maintaining close economic ties with both Iran and Israel, has urged all parties to promote regional peace and stability and avoid further escalation. The Chinese government has called for immediate de-escalation and has offered to play a constructive role in helping to defuse the crisis.

In response to the escalating tensions, the United States has ordered the departure of non-essential personnel from its embassy in Baghdad, highlighting the growing risk of retaliation by Iran. President Donald Trump has warned Tehran against developing a nuclear weapon, stating that "they can’t have a nuclear weapon" [2].

The recent developments underscore the complex geopolitical landscape in the Middle East. The international community must now closely monitor the situation and work towards a diplomatic resolution to prevent further conflict.
