Autodesk, a California-based firm offering 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software, has launched this initiative to provide a local storage option for its Indian customers. Until now, customer data was stored outside the country, which raised concerns about data security and privacy. With the new arrangement, businesses and public sector organizations, particularly in regulated sectors such as government, infrastructure, and utilities, can now satisfy customer requirements and preferences while benefiting from enterprise-grade security, privacy, and recoverability.
The regional offerings include Autodesk Docs, Autodesk BIM Collaborate, and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro, supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in India. This expansion is part of Autodesk's strategy to offer tailored design and make solutions that suit the Indian realities.
Kamolika Peres Gupta, Vice President, India and SAARC, Autodesk, stated, "India is at a pivotal moment in its digital transformation journey, where the convergence of infrastructure growth and data-driven innovation is reshaping industries. As companies look to accelerate this transformation, prioritizing data regionalization is becoming a strategic imperative, enabling trust, transparency, and seamless collaboration." [1]
The introduction of localized data offerings in India follows Autodesk's recent survey findings, which indicated that 37% of Indian organizations lacked trust in tools due to data security concerns. This new offering aims to address these concerns by providing secure cloud collaboration tools with regional storage.
By expanding its regional data offerings to India, Autodesk joins other regions, including the United States, European Union, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Canada, where similar offerings are available. This move is part of Autodesk's broader strategy to support the digital transformation of industries worldwide.
