Australia Significantly Hikes Student Visa Fees to Control Migration

Australia has raised student visa fees by 125% to A$1,600 to curb international student migration and improve migration system integrity. This move, part of a broader strategy, aims to slow Australia's migration surge post-pandemic, which has seen international student numbers soar to over 650,000. The revenue will be used to fund Australian students and local apprenticeships. Additional measures include raising the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold and shortening temporary graduate visas, among others.
