At MWC24 Shanghai, Huawei's Carrier Business plans to collaborate with carriers and partners on 5G secondary innovation for scenario-based, integrated, and collaborative advancements to boost 5G business success, as revealed by President James Chen.
In the rapidly evolving world of 5G, Huawei, a global leader in technology innovation, is charting a new course for business success by focusing on secondary innovation. At the MWC Shanghai 2024, James Chen, President of Carrier Business at Huawei, highlighted the importance of secondary innovation, stating that it accelerates business success following primary innovation, which unleashes technology dividends.
The Chinese market, with its impressive 5G network advancements, serves as the perfect testing ground for secondary innovation. According to data from Huawei's website [1], China has built the world's most extensive and advanced 5G networks, with over 890 million 5G users as of May 2024. This rapid progress has positioned information and communications technologies, such as 5G, as an integral part of various sectors and domains in China.
Chen's keynote speech, titled "Secondary 5G Innovation: Charting a New Course for Business Success," emphasized the role of secondary innovation in accelerating monetization in three areas: user scenarios, network-cloud-intelligence synergy, and ecosystem collaboration.
In the realm of user scenarios, the value of user groups and scenarios is being reinvented to accelerate multi-metric network monetization. For instance, China has 150 million registered livestreaming users, who require high-definition videos and zero stuttering. 5G's high uplink speeds and priority-based network access enable operators to cater to these user needs, leading to new monetization opportunities [1].
Furthermore, integrated innovation is paving the way for new industry IoT services through network-cloud-intelligence synergy. New Calling and cloud phone services are serving as a gateway to more individual digital services, while Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and Internet of Video Things (IoVT) services are creating new opportunities for industry connectivity [1].
Finally, ecosystem collaboration is fostering a symbiotic relationship between various players in the ecosystem, driving innovation and growth. Chen emphasized that just as James Watt's improvements to the steam engine sparked the Industrial Revolution, secondary 5G innovation is expected to accelerate monetization in these three areas, leading to a new stage of business success [1].
As Huawei continues its commitment to driving innovation and unlocking the full potential of 5G, the company's secondary innovation initiatives will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping the future of the telecommunications industry.
