AST SpaceMobile secured 8 US government contracts and plans to deploy 45-60 satellites by 2026. The company's unique satellite technology is gaining traction within the defense sector and has been tested by multiple branches of the US Armed Forces. AST SpaceMobile has ample cash to fund its projects and is fully funded to reach the 45-60 satellite level. The first next-generation Block 2 BlueBird satellite is set to ship this month, marking a pivotal step towards scaled commercialization.

AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS) has secured eight contracts with the U.S. government, marking a significant milestone for the satellite communications company. The contracts, awarded during the company's second quarter 2025 earnings call, highlight the growing traction of AST SpaceMobile's unique satellite technology within the defense sector. The company is set to deploy between 45 and 60 satellites by the first quarter of 2026, aiming to provide continuous coverage in key markets such as the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

Abel Avellan, the founder and CEO of AST SpaceMobile, expressed optimism about the company's government and commercial prospects. "We are very bullish about the government and use cases," Avellan said. Multiple branches of the U.S. Armed Forces have already tested and are using the company's operational satellites for both communication and non-communication applications. The company's large phased-array satellites, approximately 3.5 times larger than previous models, offer superior capability at a much lower cost than traditional systems, a key factor in attracting government interest.

Despite missing second-quarter revenue estimates, AST SpaceMobile reported a $0.41 per-share loss on $1.16 million in revenue, a nearly 29% year-over-year increase. Operating expenses rose to $74 million. The company's pro forma balance sheet at the end of Q2 stood at over $1.5 billion, ensuring ample cash to fund projects. "Given our pro forma balance sheet at the end of Q2 of over $1.5 billion, we do believe that we are fully funded now to reach the 45 to 60 satellite level," said Andy Johnson, the company's CFO.

The company's first next-generation Block 2 BlueBird satellite is set to ship this month, marking a pivotal step towards scaled commercialization. AST SpaceMobile expects quarterly bookings of approximately $10 million on average during the second half of 2025 as gateways are installed and milestones are met, with a revenue opportunity of $50 to $75 million for the second half of 2025.

Analysts offer varying price targets for AST SpaceMobile, with the average target price being $47.24, ranging from $30.00 to $64.00 [1]. Despite the company's recent stock performance, including a 11.72% increase in after-hours trading on Monday, the stock scores poorly on value rankings according to Benzinga's Edge Stock Rankings.
