Arbitrum, the EthereumETH-- layer-2 blockchain, saw its token value surge by 17% in a single day. This significant increase was driven by speculation that the network would announce a partnership with Robinhood MarketsHOOD-- Inc., a prominent US trading platform. The anticipation was sparked by a post on X by RobinhoodHOOD--, which announced a fireside chat involving key figures from both companies and the crypto community. The event, scheduled for Monday, was hosted by Robinhood Europe in Cannes, France, and was marketed as unveiling the firm's "biggest crypto announcements of the year."

The speculation around a potential tie-up between Robinhood and Arbitrum follows a previous report from May, which indicated that Robinhood was developing a blockchain platform to facilitate European investors' trading of US stocks. At that time, Arbitrum and SolanaSOL-- were among the blockchains under consideration for the partnership, although the discussions were ongoing and not yet finalized. The recent post on X has reignited interest and speculation within the crypto community, with some analysts suggesting that the partnership could be imminent.

The Arbitrum token, ARB, saw a notable increase from around 31 cents at the time of Robinhood's post to an intraday high of 38.6 cents eight hours later. This surge positioned Arbitrum as the top gainer in the crypto market for the day. Despite this recent gain, the ARB token has still experienced a significant decline of nearly 50% so far this year and has lost 85% of its value since its peak high of $2.39 in January 2024.

The anticipation of the partnership has also had an impact on Robinhood's shares, which saw an overnight increase of around 1.65% to $84.26. This rise in share value reflects the market's optimism regarding the expected announcements from the platform on Monday. The crypto community is eagerly awaiting the outcome of the fireside chat and the potential implications of a partnership between Arbitrum and Robinhood.
