Arafura completes A$80m placement

Arafura Rare Earths (ASX: ARU, OTC Pink: ARAFF) has successfully completed a A$80 million placement, raising funds to further develop its Nolans project. The company announced on July 2, 2025, that it has secured the additional financing through a private placement of shares [1].

This latest funding round follows a series of significant investments in the Nolans project. In January, Arafura received A$200 million from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation. In March 2024, the federal government committed an additional A$840 million to the project [1]. Export Finance Australia (EFA) has also shown interest in investing in the Nolans project, although the exact amount of funding is not specified [1].

The Nolans project, located 135 kilometers north of Alice Springs in Australia's Northern Territory, is regarded as "the world’s most advanced ore-to-oxide rare earths project." The project aims to support the development of secure and reliable supply chains with key international partners and aligns with the Australian government’s Critical Minerals Strategy [1].

The latest funding will be used to advance the development of the project, which is expected to account for about 4 percent of the world’s demand for neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr). Arafura notes that Nolans is the only NdPr-focused project in Australia that has secured complete environmental permitting for mining, beneficiation, extraction, and separation of rare earths [1].

Managing Director and CEO Darryl Cuzzubbo commented on the significance of the new funding, stating, "EFA’s investment consideration highlights the significance of the Nolans Project in nurturing the development of Australia’s nascent rare earths sector and unlocking the future potential of Australia’s north." He also sees an opportunity for Australia to become a global rare earths leader [1].
