Apple (AAPL.US) is at the forefront of the AI computer revolution, with a substantial rise in its market share by 2024.
Research firm Canalys said AppleAAPL-- (AAPL.US) is poised to be an early winner in the AI personal computer trend. Canalys said in a statement that 17% of PCs shipped in 2024 will support AI, with 54% of those being Macs. Fourth-quarter shipments of PCs supporting AI were 15.4 million units, up 18% sequentially, indicating that consumers and businesses are beginning to embrace the trend. Analyst Kieren Jessop said: "Apple performed strongly in Q4 2024, significantly outpacing the top three vendors, taking 10.2% of the overall PC market and 45% of the AI-enabled PC market." The analyst said: "Apple's channelCHRO-- strategy is evolving, with the announcement of the Apple Partner Network later this year. The improved program simplifies partner tiers, aiming to stake a claim in the enterprise space while providing the ability to handle customer needs. The program highlights the compatibility and scalability of Macs in enterprise environments, which have been a barrier to entry for them." Apple's most recent quarter saw Mac revenue of $8.99 billion, topping Wall Street forecasts. Apple, based in Cupertino, California, updated most of its Mac portfolio in October, including the iMac and several MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. The new MacBook Pro models are powered by Apple's M4 series chips, including M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max, designed for Apple Intelligence. The company also updated its MacBook Air and doubled the starting memory on models with M2 and M3 chips to 16GB. Jessop added that Lenovo and HP each had a 12% share of the AI personal computer market, helped in part by the Lunar Lake processors from high-end Intel, as well as AMD and Qualcomm in the mid- and low-end. The analyst said: "Apple is the clear leader in the AI PC market, with a 45% share, followed by Lenovo and HP with 12% each. Dell is in fourth place with 9%."
