, 2025, . , reflecting heightened investor scrutiny amid mixed market sentiment.

Recent developments suggest pressure on the stock from sector-specific challenges. Analysts noted that supply chain adjustments and shifting demand dynamics in the industrial gases market are influencing short-term performance. While the company’s long-term strategic initiatives remain intact, near-term volatility appears tied to macroeconomic factors and sector comparisons.

To run this back-test rigorously I’ll need to clarify a few details (and make sure the data requirements stay practical): 1. Market universe • Are we talking about all U.S. listed stocks (NYSE + NASDAQ + NYSE Arca), or a different exchange/universe? 2. Volume definition • “Top 500 by daily trading volume” – do you want the ranking based on a) share volume, or b) dollar volume (shares × close price)? 3. Trade timing • Do we – form the list at the market close, buy at that close, then exit at the next close (1-day hold), or – form it at today’s close, buy on tomorrow’s open, exit at tomorrow’s close, or – another convention? 4. Weighting scheme • Equal-weight each of the 500 positions (standard), or another weighting? 5. Practical considerations • Pulling daily volume and price data for the entire U.S. equity universe over three-plus years is feasible, but it does mean several thousand tickers. • If that scope is acceptable I can proceed, otherwise we could (for example) restrict to the Russell 3000 constituents, S&P 1500, etc. Once these points are set, I’ll generate the data-retrieval plan and run the back-test.
