The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana has directed the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) officials to expedite the development works in Amaravati, the state's capital city. The Minister emphasized the importance of proper planning and instructed officials to continue work without disruption during the monsoon to meet project timelines [2].In a review meeting held at the CRDA head office on Sunday, Minister Narayana underscored the need for continuous progress and directed the officials to ensure that work continues at a steady pace, even during the rainy season. CRDA Engineer-in-Chief R. Gopalakrishna Reddy presented an update on the progress of the works, indicating that activities were proceeding at the desired pace [2].
In a significant move, CRDA officials allotted 138 returnable plots to 59 land contributors through an online e-lottery system. The plots, comprising 91 residential and 47 commercial sites, benefited farmers from various villages, including Navuluru, Kuragallu, Nidamarru, Abbarajupalem, Ananthavaram, Rayapudi, Thulluru, Lingayapalem, Borupalem, Nekkallu, Uddandarayunipalem, and Undavalli [2].
Provisional certificates were issued to the beneficiaries, with no registration fee charged. This online e-lottery system was a trial run before the final draw. CRDA officials advised the beneficiaries to complete the registration process at the earliest [2].
The development of Amaravati as the capital city is a major initiative of the Andhra Pradesh Government. The recent MoU signed between APCRDA and the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) is a significant step towards strengthening the financial ecosystem for the development of the city's infrastructure assets [1]. NaBFID, a Development Financial Institution (DFI) established in April 2021, aims to accelerate India's infrastructure ecosystem by addressing long-term financing needs [1].
The partnership between APCRDA and NaBFID involves the latter acting as a strategic advisor to help APCRDA design a high-impact financial blueprint for infrastructure projects in Amaravati. This includes formulating financial strategies, evaluating implementation models, and identifying potential revenue sources and monetization options for available land assets [1].
The collaboration reflects both institutions' shared objective of enabling structured development and contributing to the creation of robust, service-oriented urban infrastructure in Amaravati.
