Amprius Technologies has secured a $21 million purchase order from a new Chinese customer for its SiCore cylindrical cells, which will be used in the customer's light electric vehicles. The cells offer high energy density and long cycle life, addressing the limitations of conventional graphite-anode cells. The battery market for light electric vehicles is projected to grow at a 15% CAGR and reach 26 GWh by 2030, driven by urban mobility needs and increasing electrification.
