The RCE Test Facility is designed to test and validate microelectronics in harsh conditions that mirror real-world conflict environments. Mark Walter, president for the Engineering and Technology Business Group at Amentum, highlighted the importance of this capability, stating, "As our nation faces increasingly complex threats, the ability to test and validate microelectronics in the harshest conditions is not just important; it’s essential."
The facility will draw on Amentum's extensive technical expertise, spanning project management, critical facility design and engineering, radiation and radiological safety, and licensing and permitting. Dr. Angela Lewis, SES, technical director at NSWC Crane, expressed pride in the partnership, noting that the RCE Test Facility will ensure rigorous testing of components that U.S. warfighters depend on.
The project is expected to generate highly skilled technical jobs and bolster the broader Crane/WestGate innovation ecosystem. Significant support has been received from multiple entities, including U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Programs, Test Resource Management Center, Verus Research, developer Strongbox Commercial, Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Daviess County, and WestGate@Crane Technology Park supported by Uplands Science and Technology Foundation.
