Airline Union Challenges FAA on Drone Weather Modification Plans

The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) has urged the FAA to reject Rainmaker Technology's petition to deploy cloud-seeding flares on small drones, citing safety concerns. Rainmaker CEO Augustus Doricko says the objections are based on public information only, and that the company has submitted non-public safety data and risk mitigations to the FAA. The FAA has yet to rule on Rainmaker's request for an exemption from rules that bar small drones from carrying hazardous materials.
