Airbus Orders Upgrades to 6,000 A320 Family Aircraft Following Inflight Incident and Safety Concerns

Airbus ordered upgrades to its A320 aircraft fleet after a JetBlue flight experienced an uncommanded pitch-down event, injuring passengers. Investigations revealed a faulty elevator aileron computer (ELAC) and a possible vulnerability in a new software update intended to enhance flight envelope protection. Airbus advised affected airlines to uninstall the new software and revert to a previous version to mitigate the risk of solar radiation affecting avionics. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency also issued an emergency Airworthiness Directive.
