Airbus's Faury confident to reach 820 delivery target
Airbus (AIR.PA) delivered 61 jets in August, bringing its total deliveries for the year to 434 aircraft, according to industry sources . This represents a 30% increase from August 2024 but still falls short of the company's full-year target of around 820 jets. To achieve this goal, Airbus must significantly ramp up its production pace in the coming months. The European planemaker has faced challenges, including supply chain issues that have delayed deliveries. Airbus had approximately 60 gliders, ready-built aircraft without engines, in its inventory, but suppliers such as CFM International and Pratt & Whitney's RTX have struggled to keep up with the rising orders .
Despite these hurdles, Airbus maintained its forecast to deliver 820 aircraft in 2025 in July, a 7% growth compared to its 766 deliveries last year. The company has won 600 orders so far this year, with a net total of 504 after cancellations. Major orders include a 90-aircraft order from Irish lessor Avolon.
Airbus's Chief Executive, Guillaume Faury, expressed confidence in the company's ability to meet its target, stating that the recent deliveries demonstrate the company's resilience and capability to overcome supply chain challenges. However, the company must significantly increase its shipments to approximately 100 per month to meet the goal.
Both Airbus and its rival Boeing have been impacted by supply chain issues. Boeing has delivered 328 aircraft so far this year, including 48 in July. The planemaker is expected to reveal its own deliveries later this month.
