Air China hires Qu Guangji as president

China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd. (01055) announced that Mr. Qu Guang Ji has resigned as Executive Vice President of the company, effective 29 January 2026, due to “work changes”. The board confirmed that his departure is amicable, with no disputes or unresolved matters requiring shareholder attention according to the announcement. In a statement, the board expressed gratitude for his contributions during his tenure as reported.

While some media outlets have speculated about Qu’s potential appointment to a leadership role at Air China, no official announcement has been made regarding his new position as of 5 March 2026. Air China’s recent leadership-related news, as reported, pertains to a separate chairman appointment and does not reference Qu Guang Ji.

The resignation follows standard corporate procedures, with no indication of operational disruption at China Southern Airlines. Investors are advised to await further disclosures from both companies should formal arrangements with Air China materialize.
