Air traffic controllers may have been distracted before the LaGuardia Airport crash that killed two pilots and injured dozens. They were responding to an emergency with United Airlines Flight 2384, which had declared an emergency and requested a gate assignment due to an odor on the plane. Four minutes later, Air Canada Flight 23 was cleared to land on the same runway, but crashed into a fire truck instead. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
