Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has firmly called for the United States to abolish all tariffs, emphasizing the necessity for zero tariffs on Japanese automotive exports.

Ishiba highlighted the vital contributions of Japanese car manufacturers to the American economy through substantial investments and job creation. He warned that continued U.S. tariff policies could jeopardize these investment levels. While the recent U.S.-UK trade agreement reduced tariffs on British cars to 10%, Ishiba insisted that Japan seeks complete elimination. This stance follows the U.S.-UK deal which slashed car export tariffs and lifted steel and aluminum tariffs, benefiting British exports significantly.
