The African Development Bank (AfDB)’s upcoming leadership transition in 2025 has brought into focus the critical role of Middle Eastern finance in Africa’s development trajectory. Among the five presidential candidates, Mauritania’s Sidi Ould Tah stands out for his explicit focus on leveraging Middle Eastern capital and expertise to address infrastructure gaps, energy shortages, and economic diversification. His proposals, rooted in his experience leading the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (ABED), have positioned the Middle East as a strategic partner in Africa’s growth story.
