Aethir, a decentralized cloud gaming infrastructure provider, has been featured in a newly released case study by SuperScale, a global leader in gaming user acquisition. The study delves into how Aethir’s cloud streaming technology enhances user acquisition strategies for gaming studios while providing a scalable alternative to traditional app store distribution.

One of the key advantages of Aethir’s technology is its ability to bypass the high service fees associated with commercial app stores. By utilizing web-based streaming, game developers can avoid these costs and adopt an independent publishing model. This model not only improves user acquisition but also offers several other benefits, including reduced reliance on app stores, lower user acquisition costs, expanded device accessibility, and alternative monetization models.

The case study conducted by SuperScale involved a two-phase analysis focusing on conversion rates and return on ad spend (ROAS) using the mobile game Tiny Tower. In the first phase, SuperScale examined the impact of three different engagement strategies—”Stream Now,” “Instant Play,” and “Download”—on user acquisition metrics such as engagement rates and cost per install (CPI). The findings revealed that 43% more players opted for instant play over direct downloads, click-throughCLIK-- rates (CTR) increased by 35%, and conversion rates were 45% higher for the streaming option.

In the second phase, SuperScale compared user behavior around app store downloads with Aethir’s Stream Now functionality, assessing early engagement and ROAS. The results showed that 143% more users engaged with the Stream Now feature than direct downloads, Day 7 ROAS increased by 75%, and average revenue per user (ARPU) grew by 93%. Additionally, session counts increased by 77% on average, session duration was 26% longer, and day-one retention improved by 60% while day-seven retention increased by 80%.

Aethir’s cloud streaming infrastructure has the potential to benefit a wide range of gaming scenarios. Established publishers can drive direct traffic and optimize revenue models, while live service and MMO games can benefit from seamless cross-device access. Games with social and viral appeal can enhance influencer-driven marketing strategies, and emerging markets can offer solutions for users without high-end gaming hardware. The comprehensive study, available on Aethir’s website, highlights the significant contribution of decentralized cloud streaming to improving gaming player acquisition.
