Accenture (ACN) closed on October 6, 2025, with a 1.16% gain, trading on $840 million in volume that ranked it 138th among stocks by daily liquidity. The professional services firm's shares saw elevated activity amid broader market consolidation ahead of a key earnings season.

Analysts noted the stock's performance aligned with renewed institutional interest in high-margin technology integration contracts. Recent client wins in digital transformation services for two Fortune 500 clients were cited as catalysts by brokerage research notes, though no specific valuation metrics were disclosed in public filings.

Options market positioning showed increased put activity in the $280-290 range, suggesting defensive positioning as the company approaches its Q3 earnings release date. Short interest remained stable at 1.2% of float, below the 30-day average despite recent volatility spikes in the sector.

To run this back-test properly I need to pin down a few practical details and make sure the scope fits the tools we have available: 1. Universe • Which market / exchange should be screened each day for the “top 500 by trading volume”? (e.g. all U.S.‐listed common stocks, only the S&P 500 constituents, a specific country index, etc.) • If the universe is very broad (thousands of tickers), we would need a pre-compiled daily volume ranking feed; otherwise we must first restrict the list to a manageable set (for example, constituents of a given index). 2. Portfolio construction rules • Equal-weight each day across the 500 selected names? • Enter at the next day’s open and exit at that day’s close (i.e., 1-day holding period)? • Any transaction cost or slippage assumptions? 3. Output format • Besides total return, do you want risk / drawdown statistics? • Do you need daily equity-curve and performance plots? Once we settle these items, I’ll build the data-retrieval plan and run the back-test for 2022-01-03 (first trading day of 2022) through today.
