Workers at Wynn's Boston casino authorize strike: Boston Globe

More than 1,300 workers at Encore Boston Harbor, Wynn Resorts’ casino-resort in Everett, Massachusetts, are voting on whether to authorize a strike as contract negotiations continue ahead of an Aug. 31 expiration date. Members of UNITE HERE Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25 are casting ballots on Wednesday and Thursday to determine whether to proceed with strike action. Union representatives have emphasized that workers are seeking a contract that ensures a greater share of the resort’s profits remain in the local community. The casino generated approximately $847 million in revenue, according to union estimates. The results of the strike authorization vote will be announced at a press conference on Thursday evening in Charlestown.
