Trump sued over plan to sell fast access to Truth Social posts

President Donald Trump and his media company, Trump Media & Technology Group, are facing legal scrutiny over a plan to sell fast access to posts on his social media platform, Truth Social. The service, known as Truth API, offers paying subscribers—primarily Wall Street trading firms—real-time access to posts, including Trump’s own, for up to $100,000 per month. Critics argue that the move creates an uneven playing field for investors and raises concerns about market manipulation.

The service allows subscribers to react to market-moving news—such as Trump’s statements on tariffs, the Iran war, and immigration policies—before the general public. This has drawn sharp criticism from lawmakers, including Democratic Senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren, who have called on the SEC to investigate potential violations of securities laws. Law experts, such as Kathleen Clark of Washington University School of Law, have labeled the initiative as “brazen corruption,” citing conflicts of interest and the improper use of presidential power for personal financial gain.

Trump, who is the largest shareholder of Trump Media & Technology Group, stands to benefit directly from the service. The company’s stock has fallen more than 70% since Trump took office, but the new offering is seen as an attempt to diversify revenue streams. The company has already secured customers and plans to launch the service in the coming weeks.
