Gjoa Haven, Nunavut, is expecting system upgrades after months of water woes. The hamlet is one of 14 Nunavut communities awaiting water upgrades, spearheaded by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Nunavut. The upgrades are part of the territorial government's $610-million Drinking Water Strategy Framework released in 2023, with over $400 million committed to date. The changes in Gjoa Haven may include a new water treatment plant, transmission line, and pumphouse, expected to serve the community until the end of the century.
