Kakapo Population Reaches 325, Still Critically Endangered

New Zealand's kakapo population has increased from 51 in 1995 to 325 today, thanks to conservation efforts. The flightless parrot remains critically endangered, with its survival dependent on human intervention. Kakapo don't breed every year, and their numbers have only exceeded 300 birds in the past 75 years. The species' population is managed intensively through habitat creation and individual tracking.
