Samsung C&T (SCT) and Samsung Electronics (SEC) have completed a $110 million equity investment in GRAIL, a healthcare company focused on early cancer detection, at a price of $70.05 per share of common stock. The investment, which was announced in late 2025 and finalized in early 2026, is part of a broader strategic collaboration to bring GRAIL's Galleri MCED test to key Asian markets.

Under the terms of the agreement, SCT will serve as the exclusive distributor in South Korea, with potential expansion into Japan and Singapore. The test, which detects over 50 types of cancer through a blood sample, is currently processed at GRAIL's clinical laboratory in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

The partnership also includes plans for potential operational and strategic collaborations, such as integrating Samsung’s health data platform with GRAIL’s genomic data and supporting clinical research. Samsung Electronics emphasized that the collaboration aligns with its vision to improve global health through digital innovation and AI-driven personalization.

The investment is expected to strengthen GRAIL’s financial position as it advances toward securing reimbursement for the Galleri test in the U.S. and international markets. The transaction was advised by Covington & Burling, BKL, and E&Y Han Young for Samsung, while Latham & Watkins and Morgan Stanley provided counsel and financial advice to GRAIL.
