Ford's European boss, Jim Baumbick, has called for a "level playing field" in the UK car market, citing unfair competition from cheap Chinese cars. Baumbick, who employs over 5,000 people in the UK, said that policymakers need to recognize the value of traditional manufacturers in Britain and Europe. He warned that FordF-- will have to take necessary measures to remain profitable if a fair playing field is not established. The UK has seen a steep increase in sales by Chinese brands, while the EU has levied tariffs on Chinese imports to battle the threat.
