Compute Demand to Rise with Self-Improving AI Models

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's calls to slow AI development confirmed that self-improving AI models, or Recursive Self Improvement, are being deployed across the industry, driving compute demand, according to Melius Research analysts. RSI models run on inference with thousands of agents constantly writing code, launching experiments, and reading results, and slowing upfront model training won't stop this loop, but rather redirect compute budgets elsewhere, the analysts say.
